Lana’s a beaut. Black beauty. A real bronco
She broke the law with me a couple times…maybe more
But she always had my back
She took me to school every day for 2 years
Even when she had a flat she got me there.
Lana didn’t quit. She would get nails stuck in her, scratches that came from who knows where, and a dead soul. She was persistent, always did her best to please me.
Even when she got nailed by a truck’s tread on the freeway going 70 miles per hour and her frame was damaged, headlight and all
She didn’t give up.
When I snuck out of school to get my notebook and my tank went empty she got me to the nearest fuel station.
Lana continues to serve me well. I admire her even if she’s inanimate.
She took me for some great adventures, yes, she did.
Summer sixteen and the 76
Nayana and her water bottles
Zoe and YG playing loud
Damn Lana was ALL about that bass!
Traveling through the white majority blasting Lil Uzi Vert or madeintyo or Big Sean
The sun glistening down on our ebony skin
The ocean breeze making the interior cool and salty
All the clothes changes and the creepy men staring
The frozen yogurt spill
The paint spill
OK, SPILLS
How could I forget?
The fucking salad.
Nayana knows.
Word from the wise: don’t put your salad on the dashboard.
All those days I would sit in the heat because I was too drained and upset to sit in class.
All those days I sat in after school traffic
Those few nights I would actually go out only to run back home again
Lana was there.
Lana was there for it all. For the past two years which were the two most eventful years of my life.
She was there for all the tears
The screams
The laughter
The fear
Lana held me when I didn’t want to go into my house yet
She held me when I just wanted to get away
She took me to prom
She took me graduation
She took me to my first job
She took me everywhere
She was with me on my last day I spent with my best friend.
Lana was there.
Lana was there when I just needed a nap
Or when I had no place to go
She gave me warmth and cooled me off
She gave me shelter from the rain and thunder
She gave me music so loud that it drowned out my emotions for awhile
She gave me reliability
Something you don’t experience with people very often.
I could rely on Lana for pretty much anything.
Even now she’s with me and overheats underneath the sun
But she’s there when I’m lost
Like she always has been.
